Overview
Hyundai has introduced a large luxury sedan called Equus for 2011 and for 2012 it is a carryover model. Available in two well equipped Signature and Ultimate trim levels, the 2012 Hyundai Equus is loaded with numerous comfort, performance and well advanced safety features. The main plus point of the Equus is that it offers far more space and equipment than its competitors.
Powertrain and Performance
All trims of 2012 Equus are powered by a standard 4.6-liter V8 which churns out 378 hp and 324 lb-ft of torque. With premium fuel these figures reach 385 and 333 respectively. This rear-wheel-drive sedan is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Equus delivers 16 miles per gallon in city and 24 on highways. It yields 19 mpg on a combined journey.
Build and Styling
The 2012 Equus Signature is equipped with a 608-watt Lexicon audio system with 17 speakers, Smart Cruise Control, HID headlamps, front and rear parking assistance system with rearview camera, premium leather seating, Alcantara suede headliner, driver seat massage, heated and cooled front seats, heated wood and leather steering wheel, and numerous other premium technologies and features.
The high end Equus Ultimate is equipped with a forward-view parking and cornering camera, power decklid, reclining rear seats with powered headrests, cooled rear seats, rear seat massage and leg support, rear seat refrigerator and a rear seat entertainment system. The Equus rides on 19-inch alloy tires.
Safety Features
The 2012 Hyundai Equus comes with advanced safety and security features. Electronic Stability Control with traction control system and brake assist is standard. A new Hyundai safety innovation comes in the form of the Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with pre-collision warning. Nine standard airbags, ABS, EBD, electronic active front head restraints with power controls, electronic seatbelt pretensioners and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) are the other safety features. A Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) debuts on the Equus.
