Audi Shatters All-Time U.S. Sales Record |

Audi of America has announced that U.S. Audi sales in 2010 totaled 101,629, soundly beating their previous record of 93,506 back in 2007 by almost 10% to become the new all-time U.S. sales record and best in Audi of America history. Audi also announced that, in 2010, they reported a number of company bests, including best first-quarter sales, best first-half results, and best-ever third and fourth quarters since Audi began marketing cars in the U.S.
Sales of the 2010 Audi A3 TDI, the 2010 Green Car of the Year, added incremental mix volume to the A3 results and helped boost A3 sales by 69% year over year. The 2010 A3 TDI proved to be a very popular car in 2010, with A3 TDI sales accounting for 53% of last year’s A3 sales mix.
Also of note is that the top five Audi U.S. markets—Miami, Dallas, Orange County, Washington, and Seattle—gained sales in 2010, each with more than 35% year over year growth. Additionally, some 28,519 Certified Pre-Owned Audis were sold in 2010, eclipsing 2009 sales ever-so-slightly by 1% to become Audi's second-best CPO year ever, even though the volume of lease maturities was smaller.
December 2010 is especially of note in regards to Audi sales. With 10,546 vehicles sold, December of last year was the second-best December on record for Audi of America, with the highest ever being December 2006 with 11,897 Audi vehicles sold. Over 45% of the December sales mix was made up of the Audi A3 TDI. December saw all 3 Audi of America regions set annual records, contributing to Audi of America’s best year ever with 22.9% year-over-year growth. Audi Q7 sales were up 50% year-over year and Audi Q5 sales were second only to the A4, up 44% year-over-year. Certified Pre-Owned Audi sales totaled 2,877 units in December, representing the best month for CPO Audis since May 2008 and giving Audi 49% year-over-year growth and their second-best December ever. Audi cars and SUVs were so popular in December, in fact, that it has resulted in only 34 days supply of in-stock vehicles.
